Ever since I moved into the 90s Catmom Chic home, I’ve been trying to prioritize what spaces to work on first – as there are SO MANY to do! My front porch was brushed aside for some time during the Winter months, but as Summer crept around the corner I started itching to do a front porch makeover.
This space felt blah, beige, and boring to me. And I was content to leave it that way for a while since I didn’t see it throughout the day. But since both my husband and I enter and exit through the front door instead of the garage, the front porch started calling to me to update it.
It started with a simple trip to Walmart to buy some hanging baskets and once they were up, I just kept going. To catch up on the progress of my front porch makeover, check out these posts:
And now, for the final reveal of my front porch makeover:
I am so happy with the way my front porch makeover turned out! I wasn’t sure what colors to go with (other than blue!) until I saw those gorgeous rugs. I knew instantly that they would add the bright pop I wanted!
Sadly, the DIY ombre table I did in week two didn’t make it to the finale. I just wasn’t digging it and think I may re-do it soon. It’s in the “flop” pile for now. Fortunately, I did have some existing side tables I got at a flea market that work perfectly for the space. They can be separated out or put together to form one big table.
The vintage illuminated letters were a flea market find too. I had them in my Living Room previously, but the colors and style just weren’t working. When I found the green rugs, I knew exactly what to do! I so enjoy coming home now and being greeted by this message of love. I hope that my guests, neighbors, and visitors will feel loved when they come to my home too.
The front porch sign turned out perfectly too – just as I had imagined!
Tip: It’s important to treat your outdoor spaces like indoor spaces. This makes them feel cozier. So add rugs, wall art, decor, etc.! You can always bring it indoors for a season or during bad weather.
I did manage to add my signature blue color to my front porch. Maybe I overuse it, but blue makes me feel comfortable and cozy. I grabbed these $5 pillows from Walmart (score!) and picked the hydrangeas from my back yard.
I’m looking forward to lots of mornings and evenings, sitting out here with coffee or dessert and just enjoying being.
P.S. Little Tigger cat was not happy while I was working on my front porch makeover. He just wanted me to come inside and play with him.
